Intern somewhere you see your future. Students choose their internships in DC based on their interests and aspirations.

Former WSP students have interned at:

  • Congressional Offices
  • Government Agencies
  • Law Firms
  • Nonprofit Organizations
  • Advertising/Public Relations Firms
  • News Organizations
  • Think Tanks

Upon selection into the Washington Semester Program, each participant will work the Washington Semester Program staff to determine the best course(s) of action to obtain an internship. The WSP Team will ensure that each student is made aware of a variety of internship options and, in some cases, will refer students to potential internship sites. All participants are responsible for submitting application materials to internship sites. While the WSP helps students determine internship opportunities, students themselves decide what type of internship they would like based on their personal, political, academic, or career interests.

Prior to applying to the program, students are encouraged to investigate internship possibilities. Students may independently seek out internship opportunities prior to working with the WSP staff. In order to participate in the Washington Semester Program, the internship must meet specific guidelines outlined by the program, the academic department awarding internship credit and the University of Georgia. Various internship requirements are put in place to insure the student has a substantive and meaningful experience.
